NMT (Neuromuscular Technique) is essentially a type of Trigger Point technique that uses specific pressure and positioning to trick the nervous system into releasing chronic holding patterns, and chronic pain pathways. Muscle Energy is used for joint pain and/or subluxations. These symptoms may be due to muscle imbalances in the smaller muscle groups which can then move into larger muscle groups. MET focus on the smaller muscle groups by using contract-relax techniques to fatigue the muscles and trick them into relaxing. Once we have relaxed the muscle, the bone has the opportunity to go back into it's orginal spot.
MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) is a very light technique used to gentely drain away excess fluid in the body. It is very useful for decreasing pain associated with inflammation from an acute injury such as a sprain or strain. It is also helpful with alleviating discomfort caused by excess fluid. An example of this would be, in the ankles during pregnancy.
MFR (Myofacsial Release) is a technique that treats the connective tissues of the body, beginning with the superficial fascia that is found just underneath the skin, and the slow steady pressure will begin to release the deeper layers found around and within the muscles. This technique can be gentle but when treating the deeper layers can be more aggressive. It is very effective for alleviating chronic tension, decreasing muscle imbalances, and re-aligning body posture.
